Item Description
The large Stari Trg Mine in Kosovo (formerly Yugoslavia) is the central mine at the Trepca complex, and has been a source of superb crystallized minerals for many years. This well-known locality might be best-known for its various sulfides and carbonates. This is a great display specimen featuring sharp, lustrous, well-formed, compressed, gemmy / translucent, soft-white colored, trigonal crystals of Calcite associated with stark black, lustrous crystals of Sphalerite. The largest Calcite measures 2.3 cm. The piece is in good shape overall, but there are some contacted areas, so it's not damage free. The quality and form of the Calcites is still very good. Really eye-catching in person.
