Calcite with Sphalerite

The prolific Stari Trg Mine in Kosovo (formerly Yugoslavia) is the central mine at the Trepca complex. This well-known locality for many years produced some amazing display specimens including some classic combos featuring sulfides with carbonates. This is a great display specimen featuring sharp, lustrous, well-formed, compressed, gemmy / translucent, soft-white colored, trigonal crystals of Calcite associated with stark black, lustrous crystals of Sphalerite measuring up to 2.1 cm. If you look at the central portion of the piece, you'll see a patch of metallic grey "needles" of Boulangerite for a nice touch. The piece is in great shape overall, and the quality and form of the Calcites is very good. Really eye-catching in person. No major damage that I can find on the display side, just a few imperfections on a few Calcite crystals.
