Item Description

Exceptional combination piece from the famous Weardale Mining District. The gemmy, nailhead Calcites have excellent silky luster, and the largest is about 1 cm across. The numerous crystals rest on purple Fluorite and a small amount of Galena. What makes this truly remarkable is that there is sparkly, iridescent pyrite prefentially coating some of the faces of the Calcites. The effect, and the quality of it, is striking. One of the most interesting Calcites I have seen from Weardale. A great toenail (large thumbnail/small miniature sized).
