Item Description
For what it is, a stunning calcite specimen! This full-sized thumbnail is a rare British calcite thumbnail up to modern quality standards for a very common species....and from one of the classic old mines there, that certainly dates to the 1800s era of mining. It came as a gift to Ernie Schlichter in 2001 (per his card) from Bill Metropolis, at the time a curator of Harvard who was handling a number of deaccessions from the museum to East Coast collectors and dealers. From Schlichter, this passed to the Flynn collection. Such fine English calcites in thumbnail size are quite rare. Complete all around.
