Calcite with Native Copper ''phantom''

These specimens are some of the most distinctive examples of Calcite from any locality. While the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is best-known for its excellent Copper specimens, these iconic Calcites with Copper inclusions are just as desirable and impressive in my mind. Here we have a well-formed, gemmy, colorless Calcite scalenohedrons with silky, slightly striated faces, which features inclusions of bright orange-pink metallic Native Copper forming a distinct internal "phantom" in the same shape as the exterior form of the Calcite crystal. The piece is complete all around, and undamaged, save the base where it was separated from the pocket wall. A lovely thumbnail sized specimen of this classic material.
