Calcite with Mottramite

Item Description

Two generations of translucent, lustrous, white Calcites, up to 8 mm on edge, highlight this unusual and elongated, cabinet-size specimen from Tsumeb. Born of the difference in habit, the two sides of the piece vary dramatically, creating a fascinating and interesting set of contrasts. The Calcites have the bright orange fluorescence that you often see in many specimens. Adding to this are thousands of gemmy and lustrous microcrystals of grass-green Mottramite. Simple, but also not, this specimen has an excellent set of aesthetics, and is one of the nicest of these combinations that we have seen. Probably an older specimen, 1960s or earlier.
