Calcite with Marcasite

Water-clear, gem, colorless, complex calcite rhombohedrons, to 2.6 cm, are aesthetically intergrown on this showy and excellent small cabinet plate from this well-known Iowa limestone surface and underground mine. Tiny micro, sparkly, brassy marcasite crystals are included in the rhombs, adding character and are a typical accessory. The mine also has produced outstanding baryte specimens.
