Item Description

This piece was mined in 2019 and features clusters of beautiful smoky colored, razor-sharp, highly lustrous, gemmy, trigonal Calcite crystals which are sitting on a mound of soft olive-green colored Kolwezite associated with beautiful turquoise blue Chrysocolla and dark green, chatoyant "sprays" of Malachite. I love the balance, arrangement and overall color scheme of the piece that is just iconic for the famous Mashamba West Mine. The Calcite crystals were difficult to photograph, but they look great in person, and while we're more accustomed to seeing the pink cobalt-bearing variety from this mine, these smoky colored crystals have a beautiful crystal habit that is unlike anything I can remember seeing from the locality. A great overall association specimen from one of the premier copper deposits in the world.
