Item Description
A beautiful, three-dimensional display specimen of Calcite from an undisclosed locality in Chihuahua (though it's likely from Santa Eulalia). Several very sharp, lustrous, translucent, "dogtooth"-shaped scalenohedral crystals of Calcite measuring up to 4.0 cm long free of matrix. The crystals are a soft golden to soft brownish color which is amplified by bright orange-red colored iron oxide inclusions. Very good quality all around, as most of the crystals are in very good shape, though a few small imperfections can be seen here and there. The piece comes with a nice label from Walt Lidstrom, which puts it circa 1960s-1970s. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6716). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
