Calcite with iron oxide inclusions

A fantastic, large, three-dimensional display specimen of the now classic Calcites from Fengjiashan Mine (Daye Mine) in China. This aesthetic piece is loaded with sharp, lustrous, translucent Calcite rhombs and scalenohedra which are gently included with iron oxide to create a gorgeous pink color. The largest Calcite is a beautiful "butterfly" twin and measures 6.7 cm. For the most part, there is very little damage, though a few small nicks can be seen. Honestly you really can't see much without looking very closely, and the piece is so showy that it's easily forgiven. These specimens are certainly dwindling on the market now, and if you collect Calcites or Chinese minerals, or if you just want to get your hands on a great big example of these wonderful Calcites, don't miss out on this one.
