Calcite with iridescent Pyrite / Chalcopyrite

Item Description

A truly dazzling, and really eye-catching near large cabinet sized display specimen featuring a coverage of gemmy, compressed silvery / smoky colored Calcite scalenohedra measuring up to 1.5 cm across which have a fantastic selective deposition of three pointed stars of sparkling, iridescent (pink, gold, blue, green) Pyrite or Chalcopyrite which followed the edges of the pyramidal faces of the terminations. The specimen is from an undisclosed locality in Hubei, China. Nearly every Calcite crystal is undamaged, but it's not complete around the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall. The quality and peculiarity of the piece make it a very desirable and unusual display specimen that would make a wonderful addition to any Chinese or worldwide Calcite collection. Valued at $1,200.
