Item Description

A beautiful old time classic specimen from Santa Eulalia featuring superb quality, very sharp, porcelain-esque, snow-white rhombs of Calcite measuring up to 3.0 cm across aesthetically intergrown to from a showy and three-dimensional display specimen. The periphery features small accenting crystals of Hemimorphite for a great touch. The almost "wet" looking luster on the surface of the Calcite crystals is higher than you'll see in the majority of Calcite crystals from other localities, and it's actually amplified by the fact that the crystals are opaque. The largest rhomb has a small contact on one corner, but the piece is otherwise in very good shape. A very attractive specimen from one of the most famous specimen producing districts in Mexico. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
