Clausthal-Zellerfeld is one of Germany's oldest mining districts, where production began in the 12th Century. With the long history of production, fine calcite specimens of this quality are seldom on the market. Glassy, translucent, colorless, nailhead calcite rhombs are preferentially included with pyrite microcrystals, which add character to the rhombs. A showy and excellent specimen from this historic district, that displays very well from two sides. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock and comes with faded label, that is at least 100 years old.
