Calcite with Hematite inclusions (RARE locale)

Striking, RARE and RARE style calcite from this porphyry/skarn-type Cu-Mo deposit. Intergrown, dark yellow, translucent, oxide-tinted calcite scalenohedrons have dramatic secondary overgrowths of calcite included with dark brown to black hematite on this sculptural and colorful small cabinet. The opposing striations on the prism faces add real character to the piece. The underlying calcite is off-white. One calcite crystal has a cleaved face and another has a gently bruised termination, which are certainly modest detractions to this exotic rarity. Calcite of this style resembles famous mariposa or "butterfly" calcite from Santa Eulalia, Mexico. This recently discovered calcite style is a real bonus to the locale.
