Calcite with Hematite inclusions

Item Description

Large calcite plate from the 1990's finds at Chenzhou, an obvious and classic style that I grew up with and which we rarely see anymore. The translucent "mercedes" terminated calcites exhibit preferential layering of inclusions. The layering consists of a layer of red hematite inclusions followed by an additional unknown black inclusion that is in some cases followed by no inclusions. In addition to the unusual inclusion pattern each termination appears to have a rotated phantom on the terminations. There is edge wear with minor bruising on a couple of crystals noted.
