Item Description
A classic specimen of the well-known Xianghualing material featuring several superb quality, very sharp, lustrous, notably gemmy, colorless, compressed hexagonal crystals measuring up to 2.1 cm associated with virtually water clear, soft green cubes of Fluorite measuring up to 1.6 cm on edge on matrix. It's important to stress that the Calcite crystals on this specimen are rather gemmy, as most we've seen over the years are somewhat milky and translucent. The piece was DIFFICULT to photograph, but it's incredibly three-dimensional and displays wonderfully. Better in person. Excellent condition all around with only a few minor rough spots that I can see with the naked eye. Originally priced in our inventory at $700. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
