Item Description
A showy combo specimen from Tsumeb featuring well-defined rhombic crystals of white Calcite, measuring up to 1.7 cm on edge, which have a coating of micro, pearly white Dolomite, and are associated with small patches of pale blue zinc-bearing Dolomite, on matrix. The piece is in great condition, with no major damage, outside of the periphery were it was removed from the pocket wall. Zinc-bearing Dolomite is uncommon from Tsumeb, and it adds a pleasing bit of color to this attractive cabinet-sized display specimen.
This piece comes from the collection of John Dagenais (#JD-1179), a collector from the Pacific Northwest. John started collecting in 1969 and progressed to micromounting, and later built suites of specimens from the Chuquicamata Mine in Chile, the Tsumeb Mine in Namibia, the Majuba Hill Mine in Nevada, the Black Pine Mine in Montana and the Tintic District in Utah, among other places.
