Item Description

Here we have a wonderful and superb quality old-time specimen from Bisbee featuring a group of excellent, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, off-white colored Calcite crystals which are associated and partially included with Native Copper, just like the famous old specimens from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. You can see the bright untarnished pink hue of the Copper frozen inside the Calcites in a few spots. The reverse side of the specimen features some bright red Cuprite which has formed as a result of the oxidation of the Copper. I can even see some tiny "needles" of Chalcotrichite on the back as well! A hard to find classic specimen from one of the most famous mineral localities in the United States. Priced in the inventory at $1,300. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4309). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record.
