Item Description

A lovely combination from the famous Christmas Mine in Arizona. Sharp, translucent, colorless compressed crystals of Calcite measuring up to 2.0 cm across are sitting among small greenish-blue pseudomorphs of Chrysocolla after Azurite. Although Calcite is a common mineral around the world, it's very difficult to get good ones from the Christmas Mine, let alone with a cool pseudomorph association like this. This might be the best specimen of this particular association I've seen from this locality. It should be noted that the Chrysocolla pseudomorphs might actually be replacing Gypsum and not Azurite, as this was a common misconception / mistake years ago.
