Item Description
The Schauss collection contained a long-held and long-sought suite of phenomenal and unique calcite specimens with fancy inclusions; and on matrix. This suite of calcites was, together, among the most famous and well known portion of the overall collection, and has long been desired by many thumbnail collectors. We did break up the calcite suite, and sold several at auction last year while holding this one back for Round II, now. It is an extremely well formed specimen with color and contrast: Exceptional transparent lustrous double-terminated crystal with color due to copper and Chalcotrichite inclusions... and set on a natural pedestal of matrix! It is grown up from a nest of sharp spinel twinned Copper crystals. Photo: Mark Mauthner. The crystal is 1.5 cm wide, 1.2 cm tall, complete all around.
