Calcite with Celadonite

Item Description

The Brazilian location of Irai is known for unusual and spectacular Calcite specimens. This stunning Calcite specimen with its bizarre yet artistic crystal form is no exception. There are at least four main Calcite clusters each consisting of dozens of individual elongated and terminated crystals stair stepping in height from front to back and forming a beautiful "floral-like" fan shape. The Calcites themselves are moderately translucent, white with a slight tinge of pink color with flat rhombohedral terminations and oriented reflective surfaces across the clusters. Each crystal is no larger than 8 mm in width. The Calcites sit on a matrix covered with dull earthy olive green Celadonite. A fine dusting of Celadonite can also be seen on the Calcites and the lower right Calcite cluster not only coated with the green mineral but also appearing to be included with Celadonite too. A highly aesthetic and sculptural piece displaying a rare crystal formation for the species and coming from a well known classic location. This specimen stands out!
