Item Description
The Braen's Quarry in New Jersey has been a seldom collected quarry, but has from time to time been a source of excellent mineral specimens. This piece is an attractive and robust example of Calcite featuring modified scalenohedra that have a very soft golden color. The largest crystal measures 4.3 cm and the back side of the specimen actually shows some interesting narrow / parallel growth "casts" which have formed after preexisting Anhydrite. Minor Quartz and Hematite can be seen near the base of the specimen as well. It's a showy and worthwhile display specimen that honestly looks better in person than the photos might indicate.
