Calcite w/ sulfides (Shields Flynn Coll.)

Item Description

Shapely complex tan calcite rhombs cover this rich and excellent large specimen from famed Tsumeb. The glassy rhombs are highly lustrous and translucent. Stepped-growth highlights some crystals faces and the included peppering of tiny sulfides is a striking accent. The scepter-like rhomb at the top is 1.7 cm. The underlying matrix includes malachite, sulfides and sparkly tiny calcite rhombs. Tsumeb, like Dalnegorsk, is famed for calcite diversity and quality and this is a fine, essentially pristine example of this varietal. Ex Shields Flynn Collection.
