Calcite w/ Quartz (excellent)

Item Description

A sculptural, aesthetic and uncommon large two-sided calcite combination from the famous mines at Naica. Sharp, lustrous beige calcite rhombs, such as this, are uncommon from here. The rhombs are artistically festooned on on one side of the mounded sulfide and quartz matrix. The dramatic large rhomb is 3.9 cm on the diagonal. Beautiful sprays of glassy quartz points are the highlight of the other side. The calcite face is very nearly pristine, with only a gently bruised corner to the large rhomb. The attachment on one end of the back side has negligible impact to the high quality of this very uncommon older combination. Calcites of this quality came out around 1970, with none since. From an East Coast collection. Classic and rare Naica. The piece displays beautifully without aid.
