Calcite w/ Pyrite (fluorescent)

These striking and beautiful pyrite on calcite specimens came from a small, one-time find in 2008 and remain a highly desirable and seldom available calcite varietal. Glittery, golden pyrite microcrystals preferentially coat mostly the rhombs on the top of the piece. The very glassy, transparent to translucent gray rhombs have nifty stepped-growth faces and the large rhomb on the lower right is 5.5 cm on the diagonal. The top and left side of the piece are pristine. The cleaved lower face of the large rhomb is certainly only a modest detraction to this dramatic and aesthetic large piece. Modest pink fluorescence. Valued at $1000-1250.
