A striking and unique looking calcite and pyrite combination from recent finds at an unknown locality in Chenzhou Prefecture. Cute clusters of sharp, lustrous, brassy, pyrite cubes are preferentially deposited on the termination centers of the glassy, lustrous, transparent to translucent colorless nailhead scalenohedrons on the undulating plate of this most fanciful and aesthetic specimen. We have seen other styles of pyrite on calcite from Chenzhou, but this is the first we have seen with sharp pyrite cubes concentrated on the calcite terminations. Fascinating and highly unusual Chinese combination material with very interesting chemistry.
