Calcite w/ phantom (Shields Flynn Coll.)

Two calcite forms comprise this sculptural and highly unusual specimen from Tsumeb. Lustrous, translucent, honey-yellow calcite covers both the stout upright modified scalenohedron and the flat lying disk-shaped rhomb. Both crystals show sharp phantoms of the earlier generation of translucent white calcite, when back lit. You can see subtle hints of the phantoms under normal light. Tsumeb, like Dalnegorsk is renowned for calcite diversity and quality and this is a very fine and unusual varietal from the Shields Flynn Collection.
