Phantom calcite specimens are EXTREMELY RARE from the famous iron mines of Egremont. Probably collected in the mid to late 1800s, this complete all-around specimen is a stunner. Two, intergrown, translucent and lustrous, light gray, complex calcite rhombs host a striking sharp calcite scalenohedron phantom, which is highighted by the vivid hematite-tinted edge. Essentially pristine, with only super trivial edge wear and the contacting at the base and the lower end of the smaller rhomb. Comes with an antique-style, turned wood base.
