Item Description

RARE and sculptural large combination from the well-known extinct Cu-Au-Ag-Pb-Zn-As Mammoth Mine in the famous Tintic Disrict of Utah. The impressive mounded piece is composed of striking bone-white matte nubby calcite nodules. The RARE surprise is revealed under SW UV light, as patches of neon-green Hyalite Opal beautifully glow. Hyalite opal is not listed by MINDAT for the locale. Periphery wear and a broken nodule reveal that the underlying calcite is glassy. Collected by Dick & Robert Hauck in 1993. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired from the Haucks in 1993. A possibly unique combination rarity from the mine and a must for the locality or species collector.
