Item Description

An impressive, rich and showy large calcite plate from the 2009 find at this large open pit iron-copper mine complex. Striking, gemmy, lustrous blocky calcite rhombs, to 4.5 cm, are dramatically and aesthetically clustered atop the shale matrix. The glassy to frosted crystals vary from a rich golden-amber to a honey-brown, due to iron oxide content. Complete all-around and in good shape. The interior is pristine and you barely notice the cleaved rhomb along one edge. An excellent and rich 360-degree large calcite valued by the former dealer at $1500. These caused quite a stir at the 2009 Munich Show and the 2010 Tucson Show.
