Item Description

A classic, excellent and aesthetic calcite varietal from the famous and now-closed Tsumeb Mine. This dramatic plate is composed entirely of very glassy, transparent, stepped-growth, blocky calcite rhombs. The preferential rust red, hematite inclusions and diversity of the stepped-growth patterns of the calcite rhombs really add to the texture and drama of this piece. A bit of green duftite on one corner is the final, nifty accent. This classic and desirable piece is in outstanding condition for the crystal richness, with only a bit of trivial periphery wear and microscopic edgewear to one spot. Ex Robert Fender Collection and dates to the 1960s or 70s. Valued fairly at $900-1000
