Calcite w/ Galena & Chalcopyrite (Whitmore Coll.)

Item Description

Classic, glassy, amber calcite scalenohedrons to 6.5 cm are aesthetically festooned on the mounded limestone matrix on this showy and excellent large specimen from the famous Sweetwater Mine. The matrix is covered with a multitude of steel-gray, galena cuboctahedrons and tiny, brassy, chalcopyrite sphenoids. This fine combination piece displays well from several orientations. The calcites are in great shape, overall, with only a couple of cleaved crystals on the periphery and tiniest bit of bruising noted. Certainly not a detraction. An impressive and large specimen from the Robert Whitmore Collection. 6.6 pounds or 3 kilos.
