Item Description

An impressive and aesthetic, large, old-time calcite specimen from the famous Joplin Field. Lustrous, translucent, beige-colored scalenohedrons are dramatically set on the matrix plate containing galena, chalcopyrite and chert. The striking vertical crystal is 8.2 cm and the doubly terminated crystal is 7.8 cm. For the age and size, this piece is in great shape. The large calcite is pristine. The upper tip of the doubly terminated crystal and the tip of the tertiary crystal on the upper left are gently cleaved. The end of the crystal above the doubly terminated crystal is broken. This remains a very fine, large calcite from this historic locale. Comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base valued at $175, for free. Valued at $750-1000.
