Item Description

A very fine and aesthetic intergrown cluster of classic, lustrous and translucent, copper in calcite scalenohedrons from the famous Quincy Mine. The pristine crystals reach 4.1 cm and the rich bright copper is clearly evident within the stepped-growth faces. One side and the back shows the remarkable feature of the secondary glassy calcite partially overgrowing the copper coating on an earlier generation of calcite. An uncommon and desirable occurrence. Michigan copper in calcites specimens are certainly one of the most desirable calcite varietals worldwide. Choice and excellent old-time material valued at $1500-1750.
