Item Description

A RARE and very showy large old combination from this less well-known Pb-Ag-Zn mine in Chihuahua. A striking 4.6 cm cluster of cave calcite "popcorn balls" are richly and colorfully included with gemmy and lustrous pretty sky-blue celestine crystals. The very sculptural thin gossan matrix is festooned with an earlier generation of flattened tabular calcite rhombs. A nice SURPRISE and bonus is that SW UV light reveals that the calcite balls fluoresce bright to modest neon-green from a hyalite opal coating. These unusual combination came out in the late 1960s.
