Calcite w/ Apophyllite on Tetrahedrite

Item Description

A showy and excellent combination piece from this historic Mexican silver mine. Intergrown, very glassy, translucent, terminated calcite rhombs have a striking girdle on one side of tiny apophyllite crystals. The calcites rest on a matrix of sharp, lustrous, dark metallic-gray tetrahedrite crystals. Some of the tetrahedrites have coatings of iridescent bornite. The bit of noted periphery wear on one edge is noted, but is certainly a modest detraction to this aesthetic and very uncommon combination in this quality.
