Item Description

Calcite is EXTREMELY RARE from Tongbei, which is well-known for world-class spessartine garnet, smoky quartz, helvite and fluorite specimens. The 3-dimensional matrix of lustrous, sharp, pastel-pink, microcline crystals hosts two clusters of very glassy and lustrous, pseudohexagonal, calcite crystals. The striking, well-placed large crystal is 2.1 x 1.9 x 1.6 cm. It looks distinctly like a large apatite crystal, but its not! The calcites are very nearly pristine, with only trivial edge wear to the large crystal. A very rare, perhaps unique, combination specimen from this famous locale. Value of such a rarity??? We believe in the $300-500 range.
