Item Description
1980s vintage from around 1986-1990, this is a super famous Peruvian find that was around when I was a teenager, getting into minerals at the time. In the 1980s, Peruvian minerals came up with wholesale dealers and brokers in big old oil barrels, packed in sawdust and papers. You ordered them by the kilo from Peruvian wholesalers and got a drum of whatever-you-got. Lots of luck, as we said! Once in around 1988, these showed up in a few pockets and they were brought out and sold quickly. We have not seen the style again. Elegant, carpet like clusters of this fantastical pink calcite, colored by manganese, fluoresce so brightly! Valued 1500 or more.
