Calcite var. Iceland Spar

A HUGE chunk of good "iceland spar," or calcite showing the classic double refractivity which we all learned about in high school science class from a small sample of this stuff. This is actually a very good example of the material, for reference or education! It is large, at 2.5 kilos Note, this is of course cleaved (perfectly) on all sides, along the natural cleaveage planes of calcite, from a massive rough specimen. It "is what it is." I have no idea what these are worth.
