Item Description
A showy and uncommon pseudomorph from this obscure Australian locale. This nifty floater calcite has pseudomorphed a floater, scuptural stellate spray of laminated ikaite scalenohedrons. This calcite varietal is called Glendonite. These specimens start out as Ikaite which is calcium carbonate (Calcite), but with a handful of water molecules attached to it. Once the Ikaite reaches a temperature above 8C (46F), it pseudomorphs into Calcite. One side has a bit of rubbing, but is out-of-sight in any on many possble display views. Excellent and rare material from the Jeff Rondello (South Australia) and Tom Wolfe Calcite Collections.
