The Mashamba West Mine has produced, from the 1980's, some of the most alluring and elegant cobalt-bearing Calcites we have ever had the pleasure of seeing. Often translucent, it is a major treat to find clear, GEMMY, scalenohedral crystals of this variety, let alone a cluster of them! These glassy little jewels have a gorgeous, magenta-pink color that is brought to life by the superb luster. The largest Cobaltoan Calcite is 1.9 cm, and it is doubly-terminated. Specimens such as this are rare, beautiful, and unique, and having been found over 30 years ago it is noteworthy when one of such quality becomes available. Better even in person - this is a jewel with stunning color and clarity. Valued $2500-plus.
