Item Description
This color is about as strong as you'll see in cobalt-bearing Calcite. Cobalt is a serious chromophore, and is responsible for strong hues in many minerals, including these famous specimens from the Mashamba West Mine. Even though the Calcite crystals are small (1-2 mm), they are a strongly intense fuchsia pink hue. A minor amount of green Malachite, creates a nice touch on the edge of the specimen. A wonderful display piece of this classic material. From the collection of Sean Lincoln.
