Item Description
An uncommon and exceptional old-time calcite twin from the historic Tri-State District of Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma. This impressive shapely translucent calcite has fine straw-yellow color with satin lustre faces. Well-formed V-twin calcites with this habit are very uncommon from here and few are as sharp, with a pronounced V, such as this. This is the "bishop's cap" habit. More common twin varieties are the classic fishtail twins. See the excellent Mineralogical Record Tri-State District Special Issue, 2017, Vol. 48, No. 2.
