Item Description

A beautiful near "floater" crystal Calcite of a pleasing glowing golden hue with an interesting and unique "curved" shape, free of matrix. The luster is vitreous and internally there is almost a "silkiness" that can be seen. When backlit, you can see the crystal is quite gemmy, but if you follow the outer edge, you can see a thin internal growth line that almost resembles a "Faden"-esque thread that is seen in minerals like Quartz and Epidote. I'm not sure if this is a true "Faden", or if there is something else going on. Overall the piece is in very good shape, though there are some small areas of incomplete/interrupted growth, so it's not a 100% complete "floater", but it's close. These piece came out in the mid 2000s, and are very few and far between on the market today, as I believe they were only found in a single pocket. Specimen weight is 45.0 grams.
