These classic and distinctive Calcites from the Leiping Mine in China are some of the most iconic twinned Calcites from any Chinese locality. This small cabinet features a beautiful, predominant, sharp, rather lustrous, gemmy/translucent, colorless twinned scalenohedral group of Calcite sitting atop crystals with attractive reddish-brown iron oxide inclusions, some of which have "needle"-like prismatic habits. on minor oxidized matrix. Despite how it might appear, the right end of the main of the twin is actually not broken, but actually features little crystals in perpendicular growth. There is a secondary twin on the piece, which unfortunately is cleaved, but the main twin is the main focus and good quality. The piece sits quite well on its own without the aid of a base or clay. A fine showy near cabinet sized piece of this first-rate Calcite twins.
