Item Description

These striking and beautiful, V-twinned, butterfly calcites are certainly amongst the most famous single calcite finds of the modern era in China, and came out around 2000. A 2.8 cm from tip to tip, glassy, thick, hematite-tinted, multiple V-twins perched on the crest are the stunning focal point of this aesthetic and excellent specimen. The narrow wedge-shaped matrix is densely covered with hematite-tinted calcite spikes. The display side of the matrix is pristine. The lower portion and tip of the large "wing" are cleaved, but you hardly notice it in the overall context of this dramatic piece. Specimens of this quality only come from recycled advanced collections. Ex Cynthia Payne Collection and valued by the former dealer at $695.
