Item Description
Dramatic, impressive and surprising large calcite from the famous N'Chwaning II Mine. Three beautiful, gemmy, hematite-tinted calcite rhombohedrons are aesthetically set atop the thin manganese crust. The two, stunning large intergrown pristine rhombs, 5.3 x 5.0 cm and 4.0 x 3.2 cm, are sharp twins. The 4.0 cm edge calcite crystal is also twinned and pristine. Major SURPRISES lie beneath the manganese crust, which also coats smaller calcite crystals. Here lies a fantastic large gem, 9.5 cm, coloress, twinned calcite with both glass-clear and frosted, coated with manganite faces. There is also a 5.3 cm, TABULAR, scalenohedron and smaller gem calcite rhombs. An outstanding and very surprising large calcite from the noted locale and the Kurt Hefendehl Collection. Material of this size and quality is very uncommon and come from 1990s finds.
