Item Description

This locality might be best known for its Strontianite crystals, but it has produced some attractive Calcites. This particular piece features a FINE quality, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, pale golden color (nearly colorless), scalenohedral twin of Calcite measuring 2.3 cm aesthetically flaring off matrix. I can't see any damage with the naked eye, and this is a great example of the elusive and fine quality Calcites from this old quarry in Pennsylvania. If you collect Calcites, minerals of the United States or specifically minerals of the eastern United States, don't miss out on this little treasure. Valued at $450. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6792). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
