Item Description

The calcites from the Rudny area of Kazakhstan are some of the most iconic finds of calcite, ever, known in mineral collector circles since the late 1980s if I recall. These beautiful, golden color crystals are easily recognizable with their wonderful form and gemminess - and still remain unique to this day. This specimen is a fine small cabinet piece that is complete all around the sides and display, totally transparent, and only slightly contacted on the bottom (the rear, as shown here in the photos, sitting horizontally). This piece was mined in 1995 and exported by the late Brad Van Scriver to the market. This pair of crystals, the largest being 4.8cm, exhibits wonderful form and color for the locality. This specimen has a custom-made lucite base that accompanies the piece. Valued $1000-plus. It is a VERY fine example of this material, not just " representative."
