Item Description
When the 1990s started, Russian material was rare on the market. By the end of the 1990s, Russian mineral specimens came out in a flood we all thought would last, even as China was just starting to pick up. However, the wonderful market of always-new Russian material soon ended for many reasons, and the classics of the era like this shot up in both value and rarity. This GEM TWIN crystal is one of the most sought-after styles of calcite from Dalnegorsk from the time they were coming out. It is an exquisite, complete, balanced twin. It is complete all around, as well. As a bonus, it would fluoresce neon orange-red in UV light. Such twins have been modern classics now for 20 years or so, and they are hard to obtain in such quality - now, as before. From the Matt Webb collection via Rob Sielecki, and valued $1000-plus (it has Rob's old label noting the origin, and the price was $1000 many years ago).
